The Isetta is an Italian-designed microcar built in a number of different countries, including Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Produced in the post-World War II years, a time when cheap short-distance transportation was most needed, it became one of the most successful and influential city cars ever created. Because of its egg shape and bubble-like windows, it became known as a bubble car, a name later given to other similar vehicles, including the AMC Pacer.

The BMW Isetta was in 1955 the world's first mass-production 3-Liters/100km car. It was the top-selling single cylinder car in the world, with 161,728 units sold.

Der BMW 700 basierte teilweise auf dem BMW 600, hatte jedoch im Gegensatz zu diesem als erster BMW eine selbsttragende Ganzstahl-Karosserie, an der der italienische Designer Giovanni Michelotti mitwirkte. Gebaut wurde der Wagen von August 1959 bis September 1965. Der BMW 700 war der Retter der BMW AG, die infolge einer verfehlten Modellpolitik – zwischen der Isetta und den V8-Modellen klaffte eine riesige Lücke – 1959 vor der Übernahme durch Daimler-Benz stand. Diese Übernahme konnte durch Kleinaktionäre mit Hilfe des Hauptaktionärs Herbert Quandt in letzter Minute verhindert werden. Der Verkaufserfolg des sportlichen und erschwinglichen BMW 700 stabilisierte das Unternehmen und ermöglichte die Entwicklung der Neuen Klasse, die den Durchbruch bedeutete und die V8-Ära beendete. Zuerst gab es das BMW-700-Coupé, gefolgt vom BMW 700 (Limousine), BMW 700 Sport (später BMW 700 CS), BMW LS Luxus (1962 bis 1965) und BMW LS Coupé (1964 und 1965). Das BMW-700-Coupé ist das letzte ohne die typische C-Säule der BMW-Coupés mit dem „Hofmeister-Knick“, der mit dem BMW 3200 CS eingeführt wurde.

The BMW 700 was a small rear-engined car produced by BMW in various models from August 1959 to November 1965. It was the first BMW automobile with a monocoque structure. The 700 was a sales success at a time when BMW was close to financial ruin. The 700 was also successful in its class in motorsport, both in its stock form and as the basis of a racing special called the 700RS. Introduced as a coupe and a two-door sedan, the 700 was later offered as a convertible. The original 700 sedan was replaced by long-wheelbase 700 Luxus and 700 LS versions. The long-wheelbase LS Coupe was available in the last year of production. More than 188,000 were sold before production ended in November 1965. Upon discontinuing the 700, BMW left the economy car market and did not return until 2002 with the Mini.

Der NSU Prinz 4 war das fünfsitzige Nachfolgemodell der Prinzen 1, 2 und 3 mit einer Karosserie im Stil des Chevrolet Corvair. Er kam 1961 auf den Markt und wurde nahezu unverändert bis 1973 gebaut, es gab nur kleinere Änderungen wie beispielsweise die Frontblechzierleiste. Der weit überwiegende Anteil der Fahrzeuge aus den letzten Produktionsjahren wurde nach Italien verkauft. Der Prinz 4 hat einen Paralleltwin-Motor im Heck. Er leistet 30 PS (22 kW) aus 600 cm³. Das ermöglicht ihm eine Spitzengeschwindigkeit von etwa 120 km/h. Er hat eine selbsttragende Karosserie. Der Prinz 4 wiegt nur 590 kg und hat ein zulässiges Gesamtgewicht von 1000 kg. Im ägyptischen Kairo wurde der NSU Prinz IV für den lokalen Markt von der Egyptian Light Transport Manufacturing Company als Ramses II montiert...

One of the revelations of the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1961, the NSU Prinz 4 replaced the original Prinz. It's new body closely resembled that of the the then fashionable Chevrolet Corvair, but was of course much smaller. Like the original Prinz, it was powered by a two-cylinder, air-cooled engine in the rear. The Prinz 4 was much improved and continued to be a well-engineered car, like its predecessors. The engine carried on the tradition of eccentric rod driven camshaft inherited from NSU motorcycle engines and interestingly had a dynastart combined starter/generator built into the crankcase. Later four-cylinder engines adopted the more conventional (pre-engaged) separate starter motor and alternator....

Die Entwicklung von Piaggios erstem vierrädrigen Personenwagen begann 1955. 1956 wurden die ersten Prototypen getestet; im September 1957 stellte Piaggio das mit Blick auf seinen Hubraum Vespa 400 genannte Auto schließlich auf dem Pariser Autosalon öffentlich vor. Zur gleichen Zeit zeichnete sich der Produktionsbeginn des Fiat Nuova 500 ab, der in der gleichen Klasse antrat wie Piaggios Auto. Im Hinblick auf den neuen 500 rechnete sich Piaggio für seinen 400 nur Außenseiterchancen auf dem italienischen Markt aus. Stattdessen konzentrierte sich das Unternehmen von Beginn an auf Frankreich und Belgien als Hauptabsatzmarkt. Deshalb entschied sich das Unternehmen früh dazu, den 400 ausschließlich im französischen Vespa-Werk in Fourchambault in Burgund zu produzieren.....

The 400 was a two seater with room behind the seats to accommodate luggage or two small children on an optional cushion. The front seats were simple tubular metal frames with cloth upholstery on elastic "springs" and between the seats were the handbrake, starter and choke. The gear change was centrally floor mounted. The rear hinged doors were coated on the inside with only a thin plastic lining attached to the metal door panel skin allowing valuable extra internal space. On the early cars the main door windows did not open which attracted criticism, but increased the usable width for the driver and passenger. Instrumentation was very basic with only a speedometer and warning lights for low fuel, main beam, dynamo charging and indicators. The cabriolet fabric roof could be rolled back from the windscreen header rail to the top of the rear engine cover leaving conventional metal sides above the doors. The 12 volt battery was located at the front of the car, behind the dummy front grill, on a shelf that could be slid out. The spare wheel was stowed in a well under the passenger seat.....
