Der "Knochenschuettler", so genannt wegen der fehlenden Federung, wurde 1885 von Gottlieb Daimler unter Mitarbeit von Wilhelm Maybach entwickelt und gilt als das erste "Motorrad". Definiert man ein Motorrad als ein Gefaehrt mit zwei hintereinanderliegenden Raedern, so stammt die erste Konstruktion vom dem franzoesischen Ingenieur Perreaux. Bereits 1868 verband er er einen selbstentwickelten Dampfmotor mit einem Zweirad der Firma Michaux.

In 1868 he combined a self-constructed steam motor with a bicycle from company Michaux.
