Der NSU Prinz 4 war das fünfsitzige Nachfolgemodell der Prinzen 1, 2 und 3 mit einer Karosserie im Stil des Chevrolet Corvair. Er kam 1961 auf den Markt und wurde nahezu unverändert bis 1973 gebaut, es gab nur kleinere Änderungen wie beispielsweise die Frontblechzierleiste. Der weit überwiegende Anteil der Fahrzeuge aus den letzten Produktionsjahren wurde nach Italien verkauft. Der Prinz 4 hat einen Paralleltwin-Motor im Heck. Er leistet 30 PS (22 kW) aus 600 cm³. Das ermöglicht ihm eine Spitzengeschwindigkeit von etwa 120 km/h. Er hat eine selbsttragende Karosserie. Der Prinz 4 wiegt nur 590 kg und hat ein zulässiges Gesamtgewicht von 1000 kg. Im ägyptischen Kairo wurde der NSU Prinz IV für den lokalen Markt von der Egyptian Light Transport Manufacturing Company als Ramses II montiert...

One of the revelations of the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1961, the NSU Prinz 4 replaced the original Prinz. It's new body closely resembled that of the the then fashionable Chevrolet Corvair, but was of course much smaller. Like the original Prinz, it was powered by a two-cylinder, air-cooled engine in the rear. The Prinz 4 was much improved and continued to be a well-engineered car, like its predecessors. The engine carried on the tradition of eccentric rod driven camshaft inherited from NSU motorcycle engines and interestingly had a dynastart combined starter/generator built into the crankcase. Later four-cylinder engines adopted the more conventional (pre-engaged) separate starter motor and alternator....
